Youth Volunteer Shoot completed

(Update: I will post the ad when it's completed)

We have 135 youth volunteers this summer. We were hoping for a turnout of 100. We got 35. I really thank the 35 who took part in the shoot!!

I learn something at every shoot. Here we go:

1. If shooting outdoors, ahead of time ALWAYS put yourself (literally) in their position so you can see if it's too bright, too hot, too etc. Do this at about the same time of day the shoot is scheduled for. This pertains particularly to large groups, as you can be a lot more flexible on location with individuals and small groups.

2. I really need to shoot tethered. I always end up with someone in the wrong spot and I just can't seem to see it in real time. Maybe with experience this will change. With today's shoot, I think the shape is basically good, but to make it perfect I need to move five people.

3. It's my job to keep them entertained. Too bad I'm a shy introvert! lol

4. If we do this again, start the communications early. Make the communication pieces fun and lively. Send them often. Offer tips, give them a little info on what to expect. What else?

5. If you think you should do something, DO IT. Today I really should have also taken their photo on the front lawn.

6. I need to think on the spot! I believe this will come with experience. (I hope!)
