Pink Rose in Fountain

My grandson set this shot up, quite by accident. He was hanging out with me while I worked in the yard. He picked one of my roses, Souvenir de la Malmaison, and I told him he should put it in some water. So, he put it in the fountain/bird bath. The water splashed on the rose, creating the water droplets. When I saw it from above while on the porch, I instantly thought, "photo op!"

Anne Ruthmann Photography

A friend of mine from work has asked me to do senior portraits of her son, so I was doing a "senior portrait" google search, and one of the results was this page: http://anneruthmann.blogspot.com/2007/10/renees-senior-portraits.html which lead me to her recent post: http://anneruthmann.blogspot.com/2008/05/katie-george.html

Which made me cry! (In a good way!) Sometimes images / a person's photographic style just speak to you. Her images are beautiful. Just beautiful!

Still Life

Look at the shallow DOF on this thing. Freakishly weird!

Star of Bethlehem

I believe this little flower is called "Star of Bethlehem." They have onion-like bulbs and the foliage looks like grass and they produce masses of these lovely little white flowers in early spring. (Taken with my NEW Lens. woo hoo hoo!) If you look closely, you'll see there is a little critter on the stamen. I thought that would add interest to the photo, but, in fact, it just looks like a brown blur. Should have shooed (sp?) the bug away.
